Carla & Joel’s Noosa Wedding Ceremony
If I have ever been a celebrant at a wedding where the vibe was ‘We’re here to throw one hell of a party’ Carla and Joel’s spectacular Ricky’s Noosa Wedding was it! First things first, let’s talk about their bridal party of 18 in total. Yes, they win the award for my biggest bridal party to date and my goodness did they do their job well.
When I first spoke with these two high school sweethearts from Sydney, it was clear that their families were really important to them. After all 8 bridesmaids filed in, giving Joel a hug as they passed, the last of which Carla’s maid of honour & sister escorted by their mother, and finally Carla & her dear dad Glen who were welcomed by a standing ovation from their crowd of 140 guests.
They stopped at the front row of seats so that I could address her father, as he gave his blessing and welcomed Joel into their family. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room! Least of all from Glen.
During the welcome, the first roar of laughter came when I introduced their bridal party as a ‘carefully hand-picked selection of some of their favourite people’. The irony!
We dove into their love story which was full of laughter, a highlight of which involved that one time Carla managed to dislocate her knee while attempting a ‘slut drop’ on the dance floor of Coco Bongo’s in Mexico.
As we moved into the asking, I noticed it was beginning to spit (oh no!) so while they were reading their vows I quickly checked the weather radar, only to see it was set to hose down within minutes. Having to think on my feet, I let the photographer & videographer know we would be pulling signing until after the ceremony, I used the 30 seconds I had left as they finished their vows to pass the umbrella baskets to guests to hand out.
With just enough time to see them through the ring exchange & first kiss, I jumped straight to wrapping up the ceremony and into recessional before the heavens opened up and it bucketed down!
Long story short, neither the couple nor the guests even noticed I had pulled the signing in order to keep them all dry. Great success! After a 5-minute downpour (Thanks to the fabulous team at Lovebird Weddings having the umbrellas on hand for us) We got to sign the certificates huddled under a pandanus tree before our couple went for location shots with their bridal party.
Their wedding reception at Ricky’s was nothing short of epic, by all accounts, everyone had one heck of a party!
Congratulations Carla & Joel, you guys were so much fun, and your wedding day was simply brilliant. X
